Monday June 14, 2021

NO LODGING ZONE signs make a reappearance on Octavia.

For clarity, it would be ideal if the City could define “vicinity” and also put these signs up on every street.

Also, NO LODGING ZONE = A TENT FREE ZONE

We speak to neighbors who are livid, outraged and concerned about what is going on in our streets. Neighbors cite fear of their surroundings and apprehension to walk on Octavia. “This could have happened to any one of us walking by this area” is what we heard over and over again. Some neighbors express interest in ‘communicating’ to the city agencies. Some are tired of the emails, letters, and petitions that don’t yield action. “What can we do?” is the recurring commentary we hear. In the end we all agreed it’s a sad state of San Francisco.

5:30 pm

We speak to people in tents. One explains a candle was burning in the tent and then a fire started. All 4 people at the campsite on Octavia said they were alright. We asked about the car that burned. One camper quickly explained that the car owner already knows his car burned down. We witnessed 2 people coming over (volunteers?) to apologize their regret to the campers for the incident and offered them food and essentials.
